A brief description of the department:
FSU Classics is a large and vibrant graduate program (50+ students), of whom well over half are MA students. We are committed to encouraging students to explore the full breadth of the ancient world, and so to interdisciplinary studies. We also train Latin teachers and prepare students for careers in Museum Studies.

For the doctoral program: 3.6 GPA overall and 3.8 GPA in upper division course work, 1300 on the GRE (650 verbal), Normally two years each of college-level Greek and Latin with average grades of at least A-, well-developed writing abilities.
For programs leading to the MA: A BA degree, A 3.3 undergraduate grade point average (GPA) in all upper-division work and a minimum of GRE 1100, Sufficient undergraduate work in classics to warrant study on the graduate level.
