A brief description of the department:
Our graduate program has always focused exclusively on training secondary school Latin teachers. Many of the faculty publish both in Classics and pedagogy. Strong faculty involvement in local, regional and national classics organizations.

Particular strengths or unique areas of interest for the department: Latin Pedagogy Latin Literature, Archaeological Field Work, Linguistics, Etruscan Studies

GRE scores required: Yes
Writing sample required: No

For “best consideration for admission”, applicants should have (note that there are always special cases, and that meeting the stated numerical goals will not guarantee admission to any program):
Minimum requirement for admission set by the Graduate School is GRE scores of 450; our students score much higher. Minimum GPA for admission to our program is 3.00. We look for extensive upper level Latin (3+ courses) and two years of classical Greek.
